Offer Description
This is a research assistant opportunity to work in the Multisensory Research Group at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona Applications are invited for a research assistant position to contribute to our research on Multisensory Integration and Conflict. The project is led by Salvador Soto-Faraco, at the Center for Brain and Cognition -- Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona). The position is funded by the project Multisensory Integration and Conflict AEI-PID2019-108531GB-I00/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 financed by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (MCIU), State Research Agency (AEI). The end date of the project is 31/12/2023. Program: PN Generación de Conocimiento 2019.
We seek a highly motivated research assistant to join a multidisciplinary project team to contribute to work on how the conflict monitoring system plays a role in multisensory perception by regulating different possible representations of the incoming sensory inputs. The research assistant will help design experiments, analyse behavioural and EEG data, and apply computational models (Bayesian Causal Inference).
Tasks:
- Design behavioural and EEG experiments in human populations
- Analyse behavioural and electrophysiological data
- Modelling using models from the Bayesian Causal Inference framework
- Assist with writing papers
Conditions:
- The expected start date is September 1st, 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter.
- The duration of the tasks is estimated for a period of 4 months (until 31/12/2023).
- Remote work is not possible.
- Planned remuneration: 34.072,76 € gross / year approx.
Requirements

- Master Degree or equivalent
- Master-level diploma related to Biology, Physiology or Cognitive Neuroscience
- Journal and conference publications in the area of multisensory perception
- Previous experience designing behavioural and EEG experiments and data analysis
- Good programming skills (Matlab, R, Fieldtrip).
- High English skills, both written and spoken.
- High knowledge of Spanish.
- The job is in Barcelona, and a NIE and a work permit is required.
Additional Information
The selection of the candidates will be made through evaluation of the curriculum and, where appropriate, with the carrying out a test and/or interview. Valuation will be as follows:
1. Academic Background (20 points).
2. Professional experience and Adequacy to the proposed profile (60 points):
- Proven experience (publications or conference presentations) in the area of multisensory perception.
- Proven experience designing behavioural and EEG experiments,
- Proven experience in theoretical models and advanced data analysis
3. Other merits (20 points).
- High English skills, both written and spoken.
- High knowledge of Spanish
- Programming experience with Matlab, R and Fieldtrip
The minimum score to pass the selection process is 70 points. The candidate with the highest score in the selection process will be offered the job and in case of resignation, the position will be awarded to the next person in order of score obtained.
