Description
The current Expression of Interest is intended for searching post-doctoral candidates with interest in applying for a MSCA-2024 Postdoctoral Fellowships call (MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2024 (HORIZON-MSCA-2024-PF-01) at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC, Barcelona) as Host Institution.
Potential candidates must comply with the following eligibility criteria:
- to be in possession of the PhD title
- to have a maximum of 8 years of postdoctoral experience in research (exceptions to this rule can be found in the call description).
- Mobility rule: do not have resided or carried out the main activity (work or studies) in the country of the beneficiary (for the modality European Fellowships) or in the country of the Associated party participating as Host Organization during the outgoing phase (for the modality Global Fellowships) for more than 12 months during the last 36 months immediately prior to the call deadline.
DESCRIPTION OF THE HOST ORGANIZATION AND RESEARCH GROUP
The UPC is a public institution of research and higher education in the fields of engineering, architecture, sciences and technology, and one of the leading technical universities in Europe according to international rankings (Shanghai, QS). Since 2013 the UPC has endorsed the European Commission’s European Charter and Code for Researchers. In the context of the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R), which supports the Charter, the UPC obtained (in July 2017) an official acknowledgment for HR Excellence in Research and was granted the certified logo of the programme by the European Commission.
The involved research group has a line of research in the control of hydrogen systems with more than two decades of experience. On the one hand, we have a fuel cell control laboratory inaugurated in 2003 with four work stations for the validation of dynamic models, controllers and parameter estimation systems applied to PEM type fuel cells. On the other hand, we have participated in multiple national projects on the subject, with robotic and transportation applications, as well as in regional projects and European projects.
For a few years now, we have extended our activity to other electrochemical systems, such as flow batteries or conventional batteries.
Lately we are very active in the research line of designing online parameter estimation algorithms. These can feed diagnostic systems or control systems and promote the useful life of the electrochemical systems.
The use of artificial intelligence techniques, combined with existing ones based on automatic control, can significantly improve the efficiency and useful life of electrochemical systems.
How to apply?
Interested candidates should send their CV and a motivation letter through the EURAXESS portal/contact e-mail provided.
