Prof. Fernando Pérez-Rodríguez / Dpt. Food Science and Technology welcomes expressions of interest from Postdoctoral researchers with an excellent track record of research and publication to apply jointly from UCO to the European Commission Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme in 2024 (MSCA-PF-2024), which call will be open on 10^th April 2024.

My current research focuses on computational microbiology applied to food ecosystems. My research group is currently interested in exploring new approaches to improve microbial food safety aspects, focused on the study of microbial ecology in traditional and novel foods to develop precision food research. My projects always intend to go beyond the state-of-the-art in the application of microbiome-driven solutions in conjunction with digital food microbiology and omics analysis to address relevant food safety questions from farm to fork such as food resistome dynamics, food preservation strategies, and gut microbiome health, among others. The final goal of my research line is gaining insight into microbial interactions in food and human gut ecosystems to protect and improve human health through the use of innovative and cutting-edge mathematical approaches.

Have a Doctoral degree
Have a maximum of 8 years of full-time equivalent research experience

UCO also has greenhouses, its own Meteorology Station and a Central Animal Experimentation Unit, which complies with national and European legislation concerning research with genetically modified animals.
